An intimate dinner gathering to counteract gang violence.
New Life Centers in Chicago partnered with CreatePossible to host its first ever dinner gathering with the organization’s closest supporters and allies. The goal of the gathering was to generate and elevate support for NLC by celebrating their critical programming and its impact on the city of Chicago. Presenters from NLC staff outlined the problem of violence facing the city of Chicago and highlighted the ways New Life Centers has responded. Through their mentorship programming and extensive results, this organization is leaving a vital impact in the city recently tabbed, “The Murder Capital of the US.”
Eight years in the making, New Life Centers is creating a legacy in Chicago that will reduce gang violence and impact juvenile detention reform. New Life Centers currently mentors every youth on probation in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago, and 24 gang-involved youth have received their violation out of the gang through NLC mentoring since 2007. In the last 5 years, New Life Centers has been awarded funds from over 17 federal, state, local, and foundation sources. Based on performance, 94% of funders have renewed or increased funding to New Life Centers' requests as long as funding policies allowed.
Through the continued and increased support that resulted from the gathering, New Life Centers will continue their work and continue to change lives in the city of Chicago.
